2021 Clay Shoot Fundraiser
On Saturday, June 26, 2021, the Longs Peak Hospital Foundation held a Clay Shoot fundraiser at Colorado Clays in Brighton. More than $40,000 was raised for continual enhancement of our hospital’s newly expanded intensive care unit!
Ventilated and running for office. Not exactly.
Even though Wendell Young’s friends felt helpless when he was on a ventilator, they believed he would make it. They made Wendell for Mayor t-shirts. They also provided meals, transportation and emotional support to Wendell’s family.
On March 30, 2021, Wendell and his wife, Dr. Lisa Young, were at home. Lisa, a UCHealth audiologist, went into high gear when she realized that Wendell’s breathing was severely struggling. He had been diagnosed with COVID-19 the day before. Even though Wendell had oxygen at home, he significantly worsened on April 1. He was coughing up blood and Lisa took him back to Longs Peak Hospital where he stayed for 11 days, eight of which he was connected to a ventilator.
Healthy Hearts Career Fair
UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital and Healthy Hearts program hosted a Career Fair for students in the St. Vrain Valley School District on July 24. The fair allowed students to talk to health care professionals to learn about all the different health care careers which included physicians, nurses, pharmacists, radiology, nutritionists, therapists, etc.
