To support our health care heroes experiencing such challenges, UCHealth established the Health Care Worker Emergency Relief Fund (HCWERF). To date, the fund has assisted 155 of our employees experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19.
Here are a few examples of how these funds are supporting our front-line workers:
► Covered past-due mortgage payments for a health worker whose partner in the restaurant industry was laid off.
► Helped a pregnant employee with small children at home manage day care costs.
► Provided financial support to help a single mother of a child with special needs pay for specialized day care so she can continue to work in one of our critical care areas.
In addition to the UCHealth financial commitment to this fund, many individuals and organizations have donated. Every gift has helped support our response to the COVID-19 crisis.
We would like to extend a special thanks to Elevations Foundation for a grant of $25,000 to the HCWERF. Elevations Foundation collects and distributes funds that support charitable causes within the communities that Elevations Credit Union serves.
“We all need each other more than ever during these times,” said Bryan Watkins, Elevations Credit Union vice president of community relations for northern Colorado. “We are blessed to have an incredible organization such as UCHealth in northern Colorado, and we are very thankful for the efforts and dedication of the medical community.”
Our connection to each other is vital, and generosity is especially impactful as our community and world face a pandemic.
