Anyone who has serious health issues should not delay seeking care. UCHealth has taken extraordinary precautions to ensure patients are safe, including limiting the number of people in locations, asking everyone to wear a mask in public or patient care areas, frequent cleaning of all high-touch areas, installing signs and moving furniture to encourage physical distancing, and more.
On April 27, following a loosening of the stay-at-home orders issued by Governor Polis, UCHealth carefully began opening more options for patients to receive necessary surgeries and procedures. The decision is based on careful research and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
“We are prioritizing patients with the most urgent needs, and this first step includes additional organ transplants, cancer and spine surgeries, and cardiac procedures, among others,” UCHealth President and CEO Liz Concordia said. “We remain prepared for a potential surge, and we are closely watching our PPE (personal protective equipment) supplies, available beds and staffing as we begin performing these cases.”
